Are you planning to move to Wantage?

Wantage is a historic market town located in the Vale of the White Horse, approximately 8 miles (13 kilometers) south-west of Abingdon and 17 miles (27 kilometers) west of Oxford. Wantage’s historical significance, coupled with its market town atmosphere and cultural attractions, make it a notable destination in Oxfordshire.

Wantage has a traditional market square where regular markets are held, contributing to its identity as a market town. The marketplace is surrounded by historic buildings. The town has a long history dating back to the Saxon period and is famously associated with King Alfred the Great, who was born in Wantage in the 9th century. There is a statue of King Alfred in the town center.

Named after King Alfred, Alfred’s Hall is a community and arts center in Wantage that hosts various events and activities. The Vale and Downland Museum in Wantage showcases the history and heritage of the local area. It includes exhibits on King Alfred, rural life, and the town’s development.

The town is well-connected by road, and there are bus services linking Wantage to neighboring towns. The nearest railway station is in Didcot, a few miles away.
